About Us

Refugees International Women Empowerment (R.I.W.E.)

R.I.W.E. was established on 26 November 2025

in Bulgaria by Ivanna Shkolnitskaya (Khodods),

a Ukrainian displaced woman living in Varna, Bulgaria.

R.I.W.E. is women-led, grassroots, Refugee-Led Organization.

We support refugee and displaced women, strengthening

protection from exploitation, trafficking and gender-based

violence, and advancing rights-based integration through

community, evidence, integration activities and advocacy.

R.I.W.E. emerged in response to the gap between formal protection frameworks

and the everyday realities of refugee women and children in Bulgaria.

Mission

R.I.W.E. translates grassroots data and lived experiences into structured recommendations, policy briefs and stakeholder dialogues.

To empower refugee and displaced women and families through protection-oriented support, community leadership, evidence-based advocacy, and strengthened local referral pathways.

Vision

World where refugee women and children live safely, access rights and services without barriers, and are protected from trafficking, violence and exploitation.
